This wine is all about the fruit: aged in second-year and -older barrels, it showcases all the beautiful red cherry and berry notes that we love from Charles Vineyard.
The 2010 Zero New Oak Pinot Noir is fermented in an open-top tank with 30% whole clusters (70% destemmed) and 100% wild yeast and wild ML cultures, which we believe adds complexity and interest.
Because there are second-year and third-year barrels in the mix, there is still some subtle oak into the background of the wine, often showing up as a vanilla note. We love this wine, and because we did not have to pay for very pricey new oak barrels, we can offer it at a better price than our other releases.
